Our Founder Story

Elea Jay Essentials was born from legacy, love, and Saturday night rituals.

Some of my earliest memories are of bonding with my grandmother Eleanor and my late mother Janice—beauty time was our sacred time. I spent countless Saturdays in salons and at home, pressing hair for Sunday service, greasing my grandma’s scalp while we watched In Living Color and SNL, learning the quiet power of self-care.

Both my grandmother and I struggled with dry scalp, which made those rituals not just moments of connection, but acts of real healing. She introduced me early to the power of natural ingredients—aloe vera and vitamin E for scrapes and burns, olive oil for dry skin.

My mother, with her top knot bun, red lipstick, and pearl earrings, taught me the beauty of simplicity. And the hairstylists in my family—my aunts and cousins—taught me technique, patience, and pride.

Years later, while raising three sons and doing hair part-time, I heard a familiar story from women: sensitive, inflamed scalps that made protective styling uncomfortable. I knew I could help.

In 2020, I began formulating what became the HydraLoc Scalp Care System—a ritual rooted in those Saturday nights: cleanse, treat, and moisturize.

Today, I share those rituals with you—tradition made modern, and scalp care made sacred.
